Cath lab tech

Shift: 06.45 AM – 03.15 PM CST
The cardiac catheterization laboratory technician assists doctors during invasive cardiovascular procedures such as cardiac catheterization. The technician is an essential member of the team. The duties scrubbing to assist the MD, circulating for supplies to assist during procedure, and monitoring the patient's hemodynamic status during the procedure. These services will be performed in the cardiac Cath lab.
Responsibilities:
- Assists the physician with cardiac catheterizations.
- Demonstrates competency in sterile technique preparing for procedures including scrubbing, applying surgical gown, gloving, draping and set up of instrument table.
- Under the direction and supervision of the physician administers medications pertinent to cardiac catheterization. Demonstrates competency in IV access and phlebotomy procedures for the patient.
- Demonstrates competency in Holter monitor. This includes initialization, application and correct removal. Scans Holter monitors accurately and efficiently, identifying, documenting, and reporting any significant/life threatening arrhythmias to MD.
- Performs emergency therapeutic maneuvers during procedures. (ACLS protocol)
- Operates and ensures the quality control of all equipment utilized in the cath lab. Exhibits extensive knowledge of all related equipment within the laboratory to include but limited to intra-aortic balloon pump, fractional flow reserve.
- Ensures supplies and equipment are available and in working condition, including instrument sterilization if applicable.
Minimum Education
- Associate degree in science or Allied Health training X Preferred
Certifications:
- X Basic Life Support (BLS) ; X ACLS required
- Must have at least one of the following certifications and/or licensure
- Cardiovascular Technologist (CVT) and/or Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) and/or American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (AART).
Immunization docs required:
- Tdap: Proof of 1 vaccination dated after 2005 when current vaccine became available.
- Color Vision Test: Proof of test dated within past 12 months.
- 2 Step PPD or Chest X-ray: PPD yearly. If pos, provide cxr. First completed within 1 yr of start; second completed prior to start.
- Hep B or Declination: 1st vaccination prior to start; 2nd shot 30 days later; 3rd shot 6 months later. Titers NOT accepted.
- MMR: Proof of 2 vaccinations with dates or primary source IgG titer with lab print-out
- Varicella: Proof of 1 vaccination with date or primary source IgG titer with lab print-out
- Health Statement/Physical Exam: Provide doc from an exam within the last year that candidate is fit to work.
- Respiratory Mask Fit test.
- Covid Vaccination Certificate – (Along with date)
