Clinical Documentation Specialist / CDI

Responsible for improving the overall quality and completeness of clinical documentation. Facilitates modifications to clinical documentation through extensive interaction with physicians, nursing staff, other patient care givers and medical records coding staff to ensure that appropriate reimbursement is received for the level of service rendered to all patients with a DRG based payor. Support CDI staff with education and training, reconciliation of data, provide physicians and other clinicians with education presentations. May create summary reports using PowerPoint and Excel. Coordination between team members and ability to follow up and meet deadlines.
Education/Skills
- A bachelor’s degree in a clinical or healthcare field is required.
- Minimum 5years Clinical Experience
- Minimum 5 years CDI Experience
Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications
- 5 years of Clinical Documentation Integrity experience in an acute care setting. Proven ability to manage a large scope of work in a time intensive and impact driven setting. A bachelor’s degree in a clinical or healthcare field is required, and CCDS OR CDIP, CCS certification are required, MBBS, MD, ECFMG certification is highly preferred. Position may require occasional travel for meetings and onsite support to CDI teams at the direction of the CDI Director.
