Echo Sonographer

Location: Akron, OH 44304

Duration: 3 months+

Certification:

  • BLS, ARRT

 

Summary:

A specialized cardiac sonographer who independently performs echocardiograms on a professional level including but not limited to;

Transesophageal (TTE) echo, Transthoracic (TTE) echo, stress echo, 3D, Doppler color Doppler and Strain imaging echocardiograms in in-patient (IP), outpatient (OP) and off site settings.

The results of these exams are used to directly impact the course of patient care.

 

Formal Education Required:

Completion of a Sonography program from an accredited school of ultrasound technology. OR One (1) year of full-time cardiac echocardiography experience OR completion of an approved Echo Trainee Program OR Sonographer Intern requirements

 

Experience and Training:

a. Registered in field of experience (RVS, RVT, RDMS, RCS, and RDCS).

b. Basic Life Support

c. Completion of an approved Echo sonography program.

 

Other Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

a. Ability to make knowledgeable independent clinical assessments and judgements

b. Ability to quickly assess and resolve scanning, technical and patient care issues interacting in a professional manner with limited supervision.

c. Ability to assume collaborative relationship communicate with physicians and other allied health care professionals.

d. Ability to communicate and interact with respect towards other personnel, physicians patients, family members, customers and visitors, understanding there needs in a professional, caring and effectively manner with self-respect and dignity.

e. Provides high level professional quality echocardiogram examination in this modality on a routine basis

f. Ability to calibrate and operate equipment.

g. Ability to lift and transport patients and equipment.

h. Ability to independently prioritize work and effectively resolve problems.

i. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.

j. Ability to work as a team member.

  1. Heavy: Exerts 50-100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or ten to 20 pounds of force continuously to move objects.
