Engineering Technician IV

- Maintain the Machine Shop and equipment in anticipation of providing same-day responsiveness to internal customers.
- Maintain in house rapid-prototyping equipment to be in optimal condition, coordinate maintenance schedules.
- Support the research and development and Operations team by providing machining and model making using metal working equipment: Manual and NC 2-1and or2 Axis mill, manual lathe, and CNC mills, including setup, maintenance, truing, and tools.
- Electro-mechanical assembly of Prototypes, Test Fixtures, and other assemblies.
- Operate rapid-prototyping equipment, including setup, maintenance, support equipment, material, and tools.
- To provide rapid, quality fabrication of custom components, assembly of electrical and or mechanical sub-systems and test fixtures, modification of prototype parts, performing experiments and collecting data.
- Provide routine inspection, maintenance and repairs as needed of all shop equipment.
- Require minimal oversight and intervention, able to proactively communicate and coordinate with other team members as needed.
- Utilize Job Tracking tools to track progress and communicate status.
- Procure parts and materials to build prototype mechanical and electrical and or mechanical hardware.
- Design fixtures and tools. Use SolidWorks to create models of and component and or assembly drawings for.
- Assemble and disassemble prototype assemblies for various purposes.
- Perform experiments and collect data as instructed by engineers and designers
- Assist in the inspection of the prototype parts as required.
- Actively supports and adheres to the Quality Policy and Quality System procedures.
- Care and maintenance of capital equipment.
- Managing shop hardware cabinets and kits, along with materials inventory.
- Manage controlled tool check-out, check-in, and calibration.
Qualifications:
- Completion of Journeyman Machinist apprenticeship.
- Machining and Model Making using metal working equipment: Manual and NC 2 and 1 half Axis mill, manual lathe, and CNC mills, including setup, maintenance, truing, and tools.
- Operation of multi-axis CNC milling machine programming experience is required.
- The individual must have the ability to read mechanical drawings, use mechanical measurement inspection equipment and model shop machinery proficiently.
- Experience with SolidWorks CAD software*. Good modeling skills of machined and sheet metal parts.
- Good drafting skills.
- Experienced in 3D printing, printing parts, post processing using FDM printer technology*.
- Electro-mechanical assembly of Prototypes, Test Fixtures, and other assemblies.
- Reading and interpreting mechanical drawings.
- Reading and interpreting electrical diagrams.
- Good time management skills for tracking and completing tasks effectively.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of machining and model making using metal working equipment:
- Manual and NC 2-1and or2 Axis mill, manual lathe, and CNC mills, including setup, maintenance, truing, and tools.
- SolidWorks experience a plus, modeling and drawing. Training can be provided.
- Assembly and testing complex electromechanical assemblies.
- Perform post testing analysis of sub-assemblies and components for reliability studies.
- Knowledge 3D printing FDM process a plus.
Education:
- Two-year certificate in Mechanical Technical Training with minimum of 5 years work experience in related field.
