Summary:

  •  Under the direction of the Payroll Tax Manager, ensures that the Tax and Wage Garnishment Services provided by our third party vendor are delivered accurately and timely.
  • Responsible for all payroll tax activities, including compliance with local, state and federal regulations.
  • Responsible for assisting in the payroll tax related activities that are associated with mergers & acquisitions.
  • Ensure timely delivery of any time-sensitive tax notifications or inquiries to the vendor.
  • Assists with federal and state employment related tax audits.
  • Ensure all payroll tax related functions are in compliance with internal and external regulations.
  • Works independently to troubleshoot issues and conduct follow through to ensure proper controls, procedures and policies are followed.
  • Responsible for reconciliation and funding of tax and garnishments to vendors.
  • Assist manager in the testing of tax updates and projects related to payroll tax.

Experience:

  • Application of basic accounting principles.
  • Extensive knowledge of payroll tax and overall payroll operations.
  • Experience with federal, state, and local tax laws.
  • Experience with US payroll systems (i.e. UltiPro preferred)

Other Requirements:

  • Knowledge and understanding of current payroll government regulations and federal and state laws.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and to prioritize a large number of conflicting and frequently changing priorities.
  • Associates Degree or Equivalent in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration preferred.
  • Minimum 2-4 years of Payroll Tax related experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform effectively in a high risk, high volume, and high deadline driven environment
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Tools.
  • Attention to details is essential.
  • Excellent organizational skills as well as oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to excel in a team environment using conflict resolution; problem solving, strong leadership, modeling and facilitation skills.
  • Employment tax and accounting principals and controls.
  • Certified Payroll Professional designation desired
