IT Support Specialist

Duration: 12 Months+

Provides IT support for all desktops, laptops and peripherals. Responsible for installing and troubleshooting PC hardware and software. Support of productivity, communication and scientific applications in a state of the art research facility. Perform various computer system administrative tasks.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide first level support to all PC hardware and software problems.
  • Provision, configure, deploy and re-deploy new computers and related equipment.
  • Provide IT support during on-boarding and off-boarding employees.
  • Support end-users/remote users on variety of technical problems.
  • Provide AV/meeting support to cross-functional teams.
  • Maintain accurate computer inventory & identify, research, & resolve technical problems.
  • Track & monitor problems to ensure a timely resolution and document each helpdesk ticket.
  • Troubleshoot system problems, routine administration tasks, end-user support, PC operating system configuration support & software installs & upgrades.
  • Provide IT support for laboratory instruments and support end-users in the laboratory environment.
  • Manage network printers and printer support vendor.

Job Qualifications & required skills

  • BS in Management Information System/Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years’ experience working in a helpdesk support environment
  • Experience with helpdesk ticketing system(s).
  • Ability to configure and deploy systems with a disk image/cloning application.
  • Experience providing meeting support, troubleshoot AV, teleconference equipment.
  • Strong understanding of Active Directory, create, disable and maintain users and computers.
  • Ability to prioritize & manage several tasks and maintain effective work relationships in a team environment.
  • Troubleshooting skills and the ability to learn and perform in a fast paced environment.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills to effectively solve customer IT related issues.
  • Previous experience providing support to end-user in a biotech industry preferred.
  • Previous experience providing support in a laboratory environment, troubleshooting lab instruments and applications preferred.
