Lead Associate - Health and Benefits

Job description:

  • As a Lead Associate - Health and Benefits, you will be at the forefront of managing projects for medium to large clients and leverage your experience as a benefits expert to make recommendations on plan design and management on the full array of health and benefits programs. You will participate in new business activities and the creation of new intellectual capital. You will position yourself to grow into a senior relationship management and/or leadership role by serving as the pivotal point on all projects and working alongside industry experts on cutting edge solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Annual renewal, benefit plan analysis, design, cost savings and funding strategies.
  • Vendor procurement, negotiation and optimization.
  • Plan design and financial benchmarking.
  • Analysis and comparison of vendor products, services, contracts & agreements.
  • Build relationships internally and collaborate effectively on cross-functional teams.
  • Ensuring the proper cadence of internal operational matters.
  • Ongoing management of our operating model including processes, improvements, tools and templates to support our work.
  • Working with technology teams to convert processes and tools, as needed.
  • Learning and development support.
  • Insurance carrier management.
  • Workflow and resourcing.

Qualifications:

  • 5 + years’ experience and success in the design/management of group health and benefits plans gained in a consulting or brokerage environment; alternatively, similar experience in a consultative role gained at a carrier or vendor.
  • Strong financial skills; prior experience in health and benefits product pricing or underwriting preferred.
  • Proven experience creating project plans and successfully leading teams in execution of the project against plan guidelines.
  • Demonstrated success in managing client issues and relationships.
  • Desire and ability to expand relationships with current clients.
  • Polished and well developed oral and written communication skills.
  • Self-starter attitude and ability to work individually and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility and proven ability to identify and resolve issues.
  • Strong analytical, creative and integrative skills.
  • Experience in training/mentoring junior staff.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills, particularly in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Availability to travel on an as needed basis.
  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably with significant quantitative coursework.
  • Life and Health license desired.
  • CEBS designation, or health and benefits underwriting training desired.
