Medical Laboratory Technician

Duration: 3 Months

Routine duties shall include providing health care services to individuals eligible for services in accordance with the self-governance compact and funding agreement between the Organization and United States executed under the authority of the Indian Self-Determination and Education Assistance Act.

• Practices only within the boundaries of competence, based on documented education, training, supervised experience, state and national professional credentials, and appropriate professional experience.
• Provides health services of scope, quality, and quantity consistent with Organization policies.
• Collects laboratory specimens such as urine, blood, etc., and ensures these specimens are collected at the proper time and patients have received proper instructions and/or preparation.
• Determines adequacy, identification and appropriateness of specimens according to test procedures and the laboratory's specimen acceptance/rejection criteria.
• Performs specimen testing and prepares specimens appropriately according to test procedures being performed. Maintains integrity of specimens.
• Performs and documents quality control.
• Resolve technical problems and takes remedial actions whenever test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications. Ensures that patient's results are not reported' until all corrective action has been taken and the test system is functioning properly.
• Calculates and arranges quality control data in a meaningful and concise manner. Operates and maintains laboratory instruments according to established protocols.
• Performs routine maintenance, calibration, and standardization on all instruments within an
• Established time. frame. Keeps accurate and up-to-date records of such performance and quality control checks.

Skill Set:

• 3 years’ minimum experience
• Registered Lab Tech through American Society of Clinical Pathologists or American Medical Technologists
• Cerner Millennium and Ortho-Clinical Diagnostics chemistry analyzer experience
• AHA BLS req
• Cerner
• Blood bank experience req
• Peds experience req
• Microbiology setups only- must have experience
• Phlebotomy skills- not required, but preferred
