Metaverse – Game Designer

Contract: 4 Months+

  • Story Behind the Need – Business Group & Key Projects: This team is the central support for multiple organizations within Client that lend their design expertise to assist with developments components in games; About 10 people on team.
  • We need a game designer who has a specialty in quests, events, and content for live operations games. This is critical to expanding the core loop quests, rewards, seasonal content, and limited time events for Horizon’s Core Loop system to improve user retention.
  • Workstream has expanded and there is new Live Ops game design, so this work is being set by a CW until it is fully developed.
  • Compelling Story & Candidate Value Proposition: Opportunity to develop a foundation for client in a space that is not yet created.
  • Typical Day in the Role: With Live Ops Designer experience will drive design of new quests and rewards within an existing game system and provide suggestions on game design events and content (Economy balance Design optimizations for the LiveOps Based on player feedback , right rewards are attached, Plugging into design principles, and having to coordinate with 2Person creators and art)
  • How will performance be measured: Whether they can complete the assignment within the provided time frame.
  • Required YOE: 7 – 10 Years and higher

Summary:

  • Help establish preliminary processes to align cross-functional teams.
  • Contribute to strategic decisions, working with the Design, Product and Executive teams.
  • Design end-to-end games with satisfying and novel core mechanics and game loops
  • Give and solicit real time feedback from other designers to continually raise the quality and craftsmanship of the product.
  • Partner with PMs, engineers, researchers, content strategist & QA, overseeing the implementation of the user experience from product conception to launch - as well as post- launch design support.
  • Quickly solve issues with your cross-functional leads including user research, data science, and product management
  • Clearly articulate game design decisions to a vast set of internal stakeholders

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 7 - 10+ years of game design experience or a minimum of 2 shipped titles that have been successful (critically acclaimed, award-winning, etc.)
  • Experience using or making games with a 3D engine (Unreal, Unity, etc.)
  • Experience leading end-to-end development efforts and designing games from concept to launch.
  • Experience coordinating and collaborating with diverse cross functional teams to bring a game vision to life.
  • Experience inspiring teams with your games’ vision, but also actively getting into game development and prototyping and tuning the feel of the game.
  • A portfolio that features some games you have prototyped or shipped and showcases your game design skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of game design experience or a minimum of 3 shipped titles in AAA or indie game spaces
  • Experience developing or designing AR or VR games.
  • Experience with technical aspects of game design such as scripting in Unity, or blueprints in Unreal
  • General design knowledge across a range of design specializations
  • Shipped titles as a Level Designer, a System Designer, or a Gameplay Designer
