Optical Engineer / Display Imaging Pipeline Engineer

Duration:   12 Months

We are looking for a Display Imaging Pipeline Engineer who can bring together the disparate simulation models of the component parts of our image chain and employ this end-to-end pipeline in a continuous feedback loop to optimize product image quality requirements against system constraints.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Work cross-functionally with silicon, graphics, display, optics, and perception teams to implement pipeline models and simulate end-to-end performance of our image pipeline using these models.
  • Implement system simulations of pipeline components and display algorithms using a mixture of MATLAB and Python.
  • Use simulation results to propose improvements to display algorithms and verify via modeling and human factor testing.
  • Perform tradeoff analysis against visual quality metrics.
  • Bring up novel display subsystems.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS in Image Processing, related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 1+ year of experience in research or advanced development in the field of display, optics, or graphics, or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of typical image processing algorithms for image-based products (e.g. display, camera, printer) and SW/HW pipeline implementation.
  • Experience in MATLAB or Python.
  • Experience in working as a part of a cross-functional team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD in Image Processing or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in research or advanced development in the field of display, optics, or graphics.
  • Knowledge of display technologies, basic optics, one or more of the following: imaging, illumination, radiometry and photometry, physical and geometric optics, statistics, polarization, systems design and integration.
  • Knowledge of the human visual system and color science.
  • Experience in human factor testing.
  • Experience with C/C++ and/or C#.
  • Experience in bringing up real-world display technologies or optical systems, especially AR/VR.

Top 3 must-have HARD skills:

  • BS in Image Processing, related field, or equivalent experience.
1+ year of experience in research or advanced development in the field of display, optics, or graphics, or equivalent experience.
