Payroll Tax Coordinator

Duration: 4 Months + (Temp to perm)

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Completes and remits new account registration forms to taxing jurisdictions.
  • Prepares and reconciles payroll monthly tax impound journal entry.
  • Handles escalated tax tracers and communicates with taxing authorities to resolve account issues.
  • Perform all year end reconciliations to ensure Wage Statements and tax filings are accurate.
  • Assists with the reconciliation of payroll general ledger accounts on a monthly basis.
  • Follows up on newly applied for state accounts and updates Third Party vendors of new account information SUI rates, etc.
  • Perform periodic and quarterly tax reconciliations to ensure tax filings are correct.
  • Audits Tax accounts for activity and coordinates with Payroll Tax Coordinator to close any inactive accounts.
  • Coordinate with Corporate Tax Department when opening new local and state tax accounts.
  • Communicates with partners and external parties regarding tax or payroll issues.
  • Assists in updating tax accounts related to mergers, consolidations, and divestitures.
  • Performs hypo tax and stock reclasses as needed.
  • Assists in filing tax returns and amendments that cannot be filed by third party vendor.
  • Participate in Year End Activity as needed.
  • Performs related duties and projects as assigned.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Requires broad training in fields such as business administration, accountancy, sales, marketing, computer sciences or similar vocations generally obtained through completion of a four-year bachelor's degree program or equivalent combination of experience and education. Normally requires a minimum of two (2) years directly related and progressively responsible experience.

MINIMUM SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Good understanding of payroll tax and payroll processing software programs, preferably ADP Enterprise
  • Working knowledge of general ledger accounting
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Adept at handling sensitive and confidential situations
  • Strong organizational skills; attention to detail
  • Ability to implement processes resulting in satisfactory audit practices

Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
