Perfusionist

Duration: __03__Months/_13_weeks.

  • We are looking for a Cardiovascular Perfusionist to join our team and assist our Surgeons during open-heart surgery.
  • Cardiovascular Perfusionist responsibilities include setting up the necessary machines before surgery, monitoring the circulation of patient blood during surgery, and administering medication as needed.
  • Ultimately, you will work with Surgeons and other health professionals during open-heart surgery to ensure our patients are safe throughout the entire procedure.

Responsibilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree with successful completion of perfusion or circulation technologies certification required, Board certified or eligible as a CCP or CCT
  • Ensures patient safety through maximizing the care of the patient to be placed on extracorporeal support, both in the OR the ICU's, the Perfusionist/Perfusion technician needs to select the equipment that is appropriate to the needs of each patient oxygenators, tubing packs Also, the use of blood and blood products, lab results, will be monitored closely and reviewed per procedure and at department staff meetings M&M conference.
  • Perform routine maintenance, cleaning and calibration of heart/lung machine and ancillary perfusion services equipment.
  • Perform charting in patient medical record and Perfusion Department logs.
  • Data collection, audit and analysis of Perfusion Department and Cardiac Surgery Service records
  • The heart lung machine in any area of the hospital
  • The cell saver machine in Cardiac Surgery and Transplants
  • The equipment for patients receiving advanced cardiovascular life support at all hospitals.
  • Assists other staff members and hospital personnel in completion of needed tasks.
