The R&D scientist will join a multi-disciplinary team developing automated platforms for DNA and RNA manipulation and analysis. This is a 10-month contractor role with potential possibility for extension. In addition to the use of cutting-edge technologies, the team is developing new methods and hardware that require a high degree of innovation. While working with a dynamic and interactive team, the ability to independently design, execute, and interpret experiments is required. This position requires iterative hands-on development and optimization of DNA and RNA manipulation protocols. Candidates will receive individualized mentorship and opportunities for scientific and professional growth.
Key responsibilities include:
- Ensure early focus on manufacturability in product design and/or Advanced Technology programs. Drive rigor in process capability assessment, process layout, tooling and equipment development
- Work with manufacturing to identify and resolve manufacturing and quality problems related to methods, processes, tooling, equipment and product design.
- Identify and deploy breakthrough technologies that can be leveraged to reduce lead time, improve quality, or reduce cost.
- Monitor and improve productivity using Lean, Six Sigma, Brilliant Factory, or related tools, while ensuring all customer commitments are met with quality product.
- Support AME initiatives with wide business impact and ensure best practice sharing across the Global Supply Chain
- Ensure regulatory compliance through Qualification & Validation. Responsible for ensuring rigor in determining processes requiring validation, development of plans and analysis criteria, execution and final analysis and acceptance.
Qualifications:
- Minimum bachelor’s degree in biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or related field.
Direct experience with molecular biology, molecular cloning, and protein analysis is absolutely required. - Proficiency in PCR and isothermal amplification, sequence analysis, and protein expression methods are required.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Hands-on experience with real-time PCR, molecular biology methodology optimization.
- Experience with transfection or transduction, gene delivery methods (viral and non-viral), and cell culturing is preferred.
- The ideal candidate should have an appreciation of workflow automation.
- Ability to identify and report any quality or compliance concerns and take immediate corrective action as required.
