REGISTERED NURSE (RN) – Mental Health/Behavioral Health

Duration: 04 Months.

Job Description:

  • The Staff Nurse (R.N.) is a registered professional nurse who provides, coordinates, and evaluates patient care through collaborative efforts with health team members in accordance with the nursing process and the standards of care and practices.
  • Use principles of therapeutic communication, problem solving and crisis intervention when performing psychotherapeutic interventions.
  • Intervention is based on knowledge of psychiatric and medical nursing procedures, as well as the individual’s Treatment Plan.
  • Accurately administer medication to patients by using the 7 rights.
  • Transcribe and carry out physician's treatment orders accurately. Utilize appropriate interventions in psychiatric and medical emergencies.
  • Complete a Petition as needed.
  • Collaborate with patient, family and interdisciplinary team when developing the patient’s individualized treatment plan and interventions.
  • Recognize behaviors that need addressing and set appropriate limits in clear, concise, and non-judgmental terms.
  • During a behavioral crisis, utilize SAMA training and appropriate techniques.
  • During a restraint consider any past history of violent behaviors and/or history of physical and/or sexual abuse.

 

Qualifications:

  • Must pass a medication administration exam before administering medications. 
  • CPR certification upon hire.  Successful completion of (SAMA) including restraint and seclusion policies, within 30 days of employment, and prior to assisting in restraint procedures.

Experience Required:

  • Graduate from an accredited program of professional nursing required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Experience: A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a psychiatric health-care facility preferred.
  • Licensure: Currently licensed to practice by the Arizona State Board of Nursing.

Shift:

  • NIGHT Shift: 36 hours/week. 12 hours/day, 3 Days/week.
  • NIGHT Shift - 7p-7a - Block schedule: Thursday, Friday, and Saturday
