REGISTERED NURSE (RN) – Mental Health/Behavioral Health

Duration: 04 Months.

Job Description:

The Staff Nurse (R.N.) is a registered professional nurse who provides, coordinates, and evaluates patient care through collaborative efforts with health team members in accordance with the nursing process and the standards of care and practices.
Use principles of therapeutic communication, problem solving and crisis intervention when performing psychotherapeutic interventions.
Intervention is based on knowledge of psychiatric and medical nursing procedures, as well as the individual’s Treatment Plan.
Accurately administer medication to patients by using the 7 rights.
Transcribe and carry out physician's treatment orders accurately. Utilize appropriate interventions in psychiatric and medical emergencies.
Complete a Petition as needed.
Collaborate with patient, family and interdisciplinary team when developing the patient’s individualized treatment plan and interventions.
Recognize behaviors that need addressing and set appropriate limits in clear, concise, and non-judgmental terms.
During a behavioral crisis, utilize SAMA training and appropriate techniques.
During a restraint consider any past history of violent behaviors and/or history of physical and/or sexual abuse.

Qualifications:

Must pass a medication administration exam before administering medications.
CPR certification upon hire. Successful completion of (SAMA) including restraint and seclusion policies, within 30 days of employment, and prior to assisting in restraint procedures.

Experience Required:

Graduate from an accredited program of professional nursing required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
Experience: A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a psychiatric health-care facility preferred.
Licensure: Currently licensed to practice by the Arizona State Board of Nursing.
