Purpose:

The primary purpose of the Research Associate I is to support the differentiation of Universal Donor Cells into immune cells. This entry-level Research Associate role will work as part of a team expanding, differentiating, and characterizing pluripotent stem cells. The primary purpose of the job is to support studies related to the differentiation of human pluripotent stem cells to mature, functional cell types within a collaborative research environment. This will encompass assisting with basic laboratory operations, cell culture, media preparation, freezing/thawing cells, and phenotyping characterization studies.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Support studies related to cell culture, specifically the differentiation of human pluripotent stem cells.

  • Maintains accurate records of work performed, including lab notebooks.
  • Perform experiments under supervision and communicate activities through record keeping, discussions, and occasionally presentations.”

  • Quantitative Dimensions:
  • The Research Associate I will be trained to have competency in laboratory environment specifically in aseptic techniques and cell culture.
  • The Research Associate I is an entry-level role for our Cell Differentiation team that ensures technical execution, documentation, and real-time communication of cell differentiation.
  • Organizational Context:
  • This position reports to Associate Director of Cell Differentiation.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • BS Degree with 0-2 years of relevant hands-on laboratory experience.
  • Biotechnology Certification or similar, with a minimum 6-month relevant lab experience
  • Solid working knowledge of aseptic mammalian cell culture technique.
  • Strong organizational, time management skills, and the ability to maintain accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and with other team members.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong work ethic with a passion to learn and work in a fast-paced, dynamic and diverse work environment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and think critically, with scientific attention to detail.
  • Flexibility to work shifted schedule with at least one weekend day.
