Senior Estimator

Industry: Mining

The primary role for this position is to coordinate with other PTFI divisions and contractors to develop and maintain cost estimates for the PTFI Underground Expansion Projects within the Hard Dollar Cost Models.

  • Coordinate with cost engineers at PTFI / NOLA / and with various consultants to ensure that all estimates are prepared using the standardized templates and methodologies.  This includes QA/QC.
  • Work closely with engineers / designers to prepare cost estimates, as needed, using cost modeling software.
  • Assist with quarterly forecast / cost reconciliation / reporting.
  • Travel to Indonesia to work closely with cost engineers, 2 – 3 times per year (two (2) weeks on site), to ensure that the standards are being followed and to train new personnel, as needed.
  • Coordinate and update all cost related resources within the centralized cost warehouse in Phoenix.  This includes QA/QC (Quality Assurance/Quality Control) of the data provided by others.
  • Train cost engineers on how to utilize Hard Dollar to generate estimates following the standards that are currently in place.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

This position requires international air travel. In accordance with clients requirement for all employees whose job requires international travel, if you are hired you will be required to submit proof that you are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in order to travel by air internationally, unless the company has granted a medical or religious accommodation.

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field and eight (8) years of cost estimation experience or equivalent work experience or
  • High School diploma or equivalent and 12 years of cost estimation or equivalent work experience
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Must be an expert user of cost modeling software.
  • Must be an Excel super user.
  • General experience with Primavera Scheduling software.
  • Have the ability to travel to Indonesia 2 to 3 times per year (2 weeks on site)
  • Possess excellent organizational skills.
  • Possess good communication skills and the ability to train others.

Preferred:

  • Fifteen (15) years of construction and or mining experience.
  • Significant experience with cost modeling software i.e., Xeras, Hard Dollar, Ares Prism, or any other
  • General experience with scheduling software i.e., Primavera or MS Project.

Criteria/Conditions:

  • The position is based in Phoenix, AZ.
  • Location requires mobility in an office environment; each floor is accessible by elevator.  Occasionally work will be performed in a mine, outdoor or manufacturing plant setting.
  • Must be able to frequently sit, stand and walk.
  • Must be able to frequently lift and carry up to 10 pounds.
  • Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment.
  • Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required.
  • Client promotes a drug/alcohol-free work environment through the use of mandatory pre-employment drug testing and on-going random drug testing as allowed by applicable state laws.

Shift:

M-F 1st Shift
