Sr. Cloud Migration Engineer

Sr. Cloud Migration Engineer is responsible for deploying cloud-based solutions (Primarily in AWS and Azure) for all departments (healthcare, pharma, and ecosystem) across the Client’s Americas enterprise. Reporting to the Assoc Director, Infrastructure Platform Services, the Cloud Engineer provides extensive, multi cloud based technical design, implementation and support for our Amazon Web Services (AWS) & Microsoft Azure systems. The role primarily focuses on DevOps, Automation, Database Migrations, Docker, and Kubernetes technologies. This is a key hands-on technical SME role for Client’s regional and global infrastructure cloud delivery.

Work with other engineers to rearchitect and rebuild some of the core services their teams rely on to be more efficient and cost effective. Design, code, test, and deliver software to automate manual operational work Troubleshoot priority incidents, facilitate blameless post-mortems, and ensure permanent closure of incidents. Engage with development team throughout the life cycle to help develop software for reliability and scale, ensuring minimal refactoring or changes.

Essential Functions

Implementation (80 % of Time)

• Requires core, AWS /Azure Hands on skills in a large-scale enterprise environment.
• Heavy Hands-on Cloud Automation experience required (Terraform, Cloud Formation, Arm Templates, Ansible,)
• Hands on Experience on Migrating Oracle /SQL databases to AWS Databases
• Exposure to AWS redshift
• Experience of DevOps concepts and experience of deploying CI/CD pipelines using cloud native and third-party tools
• Hands-on experience of containers (Docker or similar) and container orchestration (Kubernetes - including cloud managed Kubernetes services

Technical Leadership (10% of Time)

• Present cloud solutions and architectures in Technical Architecture Working Groups (TAWG) with Japan, UK, and US Cloud Teams.
• Build GXP/GDPR Complaint and validated Cloud infrastructure and applications.
• Works with Procurement to select and implement vendor partners.
• Builds DevOps /Automation methods.
• Advises on SaaS support and conversion.

Project Management (10% of Time)

• Leads Cloud related project initiatives throughout project life cycle.
• Scopes solution requirements and configures solutions using various cloud platforms to meet business needs and project deliverables.
• Organizes and prioritizes development efforts, interfaces with other technical teams as necessary.
• Oversees and coordinates development efforts with external vendors and partners.

Requirements

Work Experience and Education

• An undergraduate or postgraduate degree in computer science, information science, management information systems, or business administration or a related field or equivalent experience relevant to this position.
• Minimum of 5 years related work experience.

Information Technology Experience

• 8+ years of overall experience in information technology and 2+ years as a Cloud Engineer.
• 2+ years of experience in technical leadership roles for enterprise-scale application architecture and delivery.

AWS /Azure DevOps, administrator Certifications.

• ITIL Foundation certified with strong understanding of the ITIL framework.
• Experience with AWS and Azure all services required for Design and build Infrastructure solutions.
• Hands-on professional level experience with Docker, Database technologies, Kubernetes, Linux, containers.
• Hands-on experience on DevOps automation frameworks, CI/CD pipelining, automated delivery models, Azure DevOps, Cloud formations, ARM templates, GitHub.
• Experience designing and implementing scalability, failover, high availability, DR, capacity planning, security, and compliance.
• Experience with AWS Control Tower/Azure Landing zone implementation.
• Experience with Python scripting – Bot Scripting and AWS CLI
• Working knowledge of Networking, Firewalls, Load Balancers, Security HUB.
• Working knowledge of LDAP, AD, SSO, Email Infrastructure, Web Services
• knowledge of Big Data platforms such as Cloudera, AWS EMR, AWS Glue, Databricks, RStudio, and other tools.
• Experience with backups and recovery tools.
• Expertise in performance monitoring and tuning.
• Experience working with all levels of the organization to develop a platform strategy and roadmap and maintain consensus around the strategic direction.

• Experience with managed services in an onshore/offshore model highly preferred.
• Pharmaceutical experience preferred. Experience with Good Practices (GxP) and General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for Cloud infrastructure qualification and validation.
• Experience designing and implementing complex, global, multi-tenant, multi-language solutions.
• Software development background (Perl, Python, Shell).
