Job Description:
Unit Specific
- Performs M-Mode, Two Dimensional Echocardiograms, and Continuous & Pulsed-Wave Doppler Echocardiography. Color Coded Flow Mapping with Doppler Echocardiography, Acoustic Quantification and Acoustic Densitometry, Digital Storage of Echocardiograms, Adult Contrast Echocardiography, Exercise Stress and Pharmacological Stress Echo and prepares patients.
- Performs specialized ultrasound – Echocardiography Tests.
- Selects the appropriate ultrasound technical and recording parameters.
- Assists in TEE’s.
- Responsible for basic up-keep and maintenance of equipment. Notes irregularities in recording.
- Monitors and is responsible for the quality of scans.
- Monitors patient and equipment during procedure and reports changes.
- Assists in research protocols.
- Performs other clinical duties, as assigned.
ADMINISTRATIVE:
- Assists with coordination of services to include scheduling of in and out patients, on a priority basis.
- Checks in patient in Epic
- Performs patient and department record keeping, both paper and through EPIC, including entry of Preliminary Echo ultrasound findings.
- Participates in Performance Improvement, (PI).
- Troubleshoot and maintains CCW echo study database to ensure studies performed transfer into EMR/Epic
SUPPORT:
- Identifies Echo readings, notifies Cardiologist, as needed.
- Performs new staff orientations.
- Provides In-service Training/Education for Cardiology Fellows, Medical Students and Technicians.
- Processes related records, statistical and charging records.
- Maintains inventory of equipment and stock, orders supply, as needed.
- Observes established dress guidelines.
- Attends departmental and hospital required training/educational classes.
- Adheres to all Hospital Mandated In-services and training.
- Performs other tasks, as assigned.
- May rotate to other sites.

Education:
- Registered as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) by American Radiologic Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) required. BLS preferred.
Certifications & Licenses:
- 1-year Registered experience in Ultrasound
- Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer
