Contract - 24 Months+

Location: Cambridge, MA 02138 Reporting to the Operations Lead, the Facilities Maintenance Specialist plans, oversees, and executes the maintenance activities at the Life Sciences Center located in Cambridge, MA. This individual manages his/her time to conduct routine, planned and reactive maintenance, small and medium sized project-based activities; participates in vendors visits as well as collects proposals and reports from vendors related to their work. The incumbent must be detail oriented, client focused, and able to work within a team.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Executes planned and reactive maintenance at ALSC.
  • Coordinates efforts in small and medium sized projects, mainly his/her own time and scheduling visits by any necessary vendors.
  • Manage vendors for routine maintenance and emergency repairs in office and laboratory spaces.
  • Liaises with Environmental Health & Safety to ensure compliance with all local, state, federal guidelines and Client's global policies
  • and remediate compliance issues.
  • Works collaboratively with building occupants to assist with basic maintenance and facility-related needs.
  • Maintain building systems such as the Building Automation System, Lighting Control System, and Access Control.
  • Building Rounds: Perform regular inspections of building areas for leaks, damage, non-functioning fixtures, etc. Record deficiencies
  • and follow up for remediation.
  • Systems Rounds: Utilize the BAS and visual inspections to perform daily evaluations of critical systems for alarms and out of tolerance
  • conditions. Report deficiencies and follow up for remediation.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and as needed repairs on systems including but not limited to: HVAC, pH neutralization, RODI,
  • compressed air, vacuum systems, lighting, electricity generators, and security card readers.
  • Carpentry: Wall repair; painting; hang writing boards, shelving, etc.; window and door hardware repair.
  • Locksmithing: Basic repair or replacement of door hardware including closers, locks, and cylinders.
  • Support room configuration (e.g., moving chairs/tables) for meetings/events or based on business needs.
  • Supports receiving and distribution of packages, mail, and deliveries.
  • Other facility/operations/maintenance duties assigned, as needed.

Skills:

  • Maintenance Experience
  •  Trade Licenses in HVAC, Electrical and/or Plumbing systems,
  • Understanding of HVAC, Electrical and/or Plumbing systems for research facilities

Education/Experience:

  • Required Qualification:
  • High school diploma or trade school graduate.
  • Must have at least 2-5 years maintenance experience.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills, particularly in a day-to-day maintenance operation.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage vendors onsite.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Two or more years’ experience in pharma or academic research/laboratory environment
  • Trade licenses in HVAC, Electrical, and/or Plumbing systems
  • Understanding of HVAC, Electrical, and/or Plumbing systems for research facilities
  • Working Environment
  • This position is based in Cambridge, MA and will require on-site work
  • High school diploma or trade school graduate
