Location: Lexington, MA Work Location: Hybrid - Initially onsite 4-5 days/week for 6 months; afterward 3-4 days/week onsite. Clearance: Secret clearance required to start; candidate must be eligible for Top-Secret SCI clearance. Interview Process: Initial pre-screen with hiring manager, followed by group technical interview. Final interview may be onsite if local. Strong background and experience with commercial thermal analysis software tools including Thermal Desktop, Ansys, COMSOL, and CAD software. Responsible for developing geometry-based thermal models, applying physical and optical properties, accounting for critical mounting interfaces, applying dissipative heat loads, and executing thermal analyses to ensure safe operating temperature levels. Supports decision making in system design architecture and overall thermal management. Evaluates, selects, and procures thermal control hardware, participates in developmental and qualification testing. Carries out system-level and detailed thermal design, analysis, and testing on optical and communication systems including supporting electronics. Projects range from platform-level analyses to sensor assembly to detailed components. Background/Need: The Structural & Thermal-Fluids Engineering Group provides innovative multidisciplinary engineering solutions through advanced mechanical and aerospace technologies. The Group requires a Thermal Engineer to support the design, analysis, and testing of prototype systems across environments including ground, underwater, airborne, and space for national security applications. Systems include high power dissipating components such as laser terminals, RF components, and computing platforms.
