Contract - 2+ months

Reporting to the Chief Timekeeper, the Project Timekeeper will perform timekeeping and craft payroll activities for assigned projects. This position requires maintaining confidentiality with strong ethical workplace behavior, a customer-service orientation with professional demeanor and communication style, flexibility, and commitment to meeting deadlines. Overtime is required on a weekly basis. The timekeeping team works in alignment with craft professionals’ schedules, including many Saturdays, occasional Sundays, and some holidays. Coverage for swing shift or night shift may be required. The position is located at the Battle Creek, Michigan jobsite and may require occasional travel to other project office locations.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with Labor Relations to ensure prompt input of all required payroll information for Craft Professionals into project timekeeping and payroll systems.
  •  Perform data entry including new hire information, terminations, rate changes, and classification updates.
  •  Support onboarding of project new hires, including site badging for all personnel.
  •  Verify daily craft attendance using the electronic timekeeping system (eTrack).
  •  Review, balance (reconcile), and export daily time records for craft employees.
  •  Handle replacement badging and perform time clock maintenance/troubleshooting.
  •  Create and distribute daily/weekly reports such as force reports, attendance infractions, and timesheet completion reports.
  •  Sort, validate, and distribute weekly craft payroll checks and direct deposit slips.
  •  Process requests for time off and daily call-ins for craft employees.
  •  Maintain craft employee files, including scanning for records retention.
  •  Maintain crew timesheets as directed by construction supervision.
  •  Perform gate watch (badge scanning) for personnel at the project site.
  •  Provide payroll-related customer service to craft professionals.
  •  Perform other related activities as assigned by the Chief Timekeeper or Project Finance and Accounting Manager.

Skills:

  •  Bilingual in Spanish and English
  •  Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  •  Payroll and timekeeping systems experience
  •  Strong communication and organizational skills

  •  Analytical and problem-solving abilities
  •  Ability to work flexible hours including overtime and weekends

Education/Experience:

  •  1–2 years of timekeeping and/or payroll experience
  •  Bilingual Spanish and English
  •  High School Diploma or equivalent required
  •  Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field preferred
