Contract - 6 Months

Location : Portsmouth, NH The Controls Engineer Level 3 is a senior automation professional responsible for supporting manufacturing operations and continuous improvement initiatives within a biopharmaceutical GMP environment. This role focuses on Emerson DeltaV DCS, process automation systems, troubleshooting, technical project execution, and controls support for manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate has strong experience delivering automation projects in fast-paced manufacturing or CDMO environments and provides technical leadership for process automation systems.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support for manufacturing process automation and instrumentation systems.
  • Lead and execute automation projects involving complex equipment modifications and process improvements.
  • Serve as the Controls Lead for technology transfer activities.
  • Support troubleshooting of manufacturing equipment, automation systems, and quality-related issues.
  • Perform technical analysis of process automation systems, including PI data analysis and control code troubleshooting.
  • Provide SME support for Emerson DeltaV DCS and manufacturing automation systems.
  • Participate in on-call support for automation and controls systems as required.
  • Initiate, manage, and execute change controls in compliance with GMP requirements.
  • Own and complete CAPA actions related to automation and controls.
  • Review SOPs, Functional Specifications, work instructions, and automation documentation.
  • Participate in audits and regulatory inspections as the Controls SME.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, and cross-functional project teams.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to optimize automation system performance.
  • Ensure compliance with cGMP, quality, and site safety requirements.
  • Provide technical guidance to contractors and project team members when required.
  • Provide technical support for manufacturing process automation and instrumentation systems.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Automation, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Extensive experience in automation engineering within a GMP-regulated biopharmaceutical or pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Emerson DeltaV DCS and process automation projects.
  • Experience with PLC programming and Allen Bradley PLCs is preferred.
  • Proven ability to support manufacturing operations, continuous improvement initiatives, and regulatory compliance.
