Richland, WA 99354 Manage small to medium-sized nuclear capital projects and programs supporting refueling outages, forced outages, and online maintenance activities. Lead project teams, establish priorities, develop and manage budgets and schedules, coordinate resources and vendors, and ensure projects are executed safely, with quality, on schedule, and within budget. The role requires strong project management expertise in complex or regulated industrial environments, with responsibilities spanning work package development, procurement, ALARA planning, resource loading, risk management, outage support, contract management, and resolution of schedule or execution conflicts.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage projects and programs with minimal oversight, including planning, scheduling, execution, monitoring, and control.
  • Lead project teams of approximately 5–10 personnel and establish priorities based on project requirements.
  • Manage small to medium-sized capital projects supporting refueling outages, forced outages, and online maintenance.
  • Direct project team activities and ensure work is executed safely, with required quality, on schedule, and within budget.
  • Develop and manage project budgets and track actual costs against approved budgets.
  • Coordinate closely with Finance and Project Controls teams regarding project financial performance.
  • Develop detailed project plans, schedules, milestones, and execution strategies.
  • Prepare work packages and coordinate parts procurement and material requirements.
  • Support ALARA planning, industrial safety, nuclear safety, and applicable work controls.
  • Prioritize project work and manage resource loading to support successful execution.
  • Monitor project progress and resolve schedule delays, conflicts, and execution issues.
  • Develop and manage contracts and maintain effective relationships with vendors and contractors.
  • Interface regularly with engineers, project managers, line managers, clients, vendors, and senior management.
  • Prepare and deliver written and verbal project status updates, recommendations, and presentations to various stakeholder groups, including senior leadership.
  • Develop and maintain long-range project planning strategies.
  • Monitor project management processes and recommend improvements to increase effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Apply current project management practices, technologies, and industry trends to assigned projects.
  • Support effective implementation of the Columbia Generating Station Self-Assessment and Corrective Action Program.
  • Provide outage support, including Outage Control Center (OCC) activities.
  • Apply error-reduction and human-performance improvement methods to project execution.
  • Implement cost-effective work execution methodologies.
  • Support online work management and refueling/forced outage activities.
  • Coordinate project activities across engineering, procurement, construction, operations, maintenance, and other functional organizations.
  • Manage project risks and develop mitigation strategies to maintain project objectives.
  • Apply Earned Value Management (EVM) and other project controls practices where applicable.
  • Maintain accountability for project scope, schedule, cost, quality, and safety performance.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to less experienced project personnel as required.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Business, or a related field from an accredited college/university and 14 years of experience in a technical field; OR
  • Associate's/AS degree and 16 years of experience in a technical field; OR
  • High School Diploma/GED and 18 years of experience in a technical field.
  • An advanced degree in a related field or business may be accepted in lieu of 2 years of experience.
  • Project Management certification is required.
  • Advanced degree in a related field or business preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction, Project Management, Business, or a related field and 12–14 years of project management experience in a multifaceted and/or regulated industrial environment, as applicable to the position requirements; OR
  • Associate's degree and 16 years of experience in a multifaceted and/or regulated industrial environment; OR
  • High School Diploma/GED and 18 years of experience in a multifaceted and/or regulated industrial environment.
  • Up to 5 years of required experience may be in a nuclear industry position involving project management activities or application of project management principles.
  • Experience with commercial nuclear power plant system replacements/upgrades preferred.
  • Construction Management certification desired.
  • Previous RO/SRO license or certification is desired.
  • Extensive experience as a direct supervisor or project manager in a commercial nuclear environment preferred.
  • Experience focused on nuclear maintenance, operations, construction, plant production coordination, or work management preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required.
  • Minimum 8 years of project scheduling experience, including at least 4 years focused on large-scale or mega projects.
  • Experience with lifecycle construction projects and a strong understanding of Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) processes.
  • Proficiency with Primavera P6 is mandatory.
  • Strong understanding of project management processes, Earned Value Management (EVM), and risk management.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to present complex schedules, project scenarios, risks, and recommendations clearly.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with personnel at all organizational levels.
  • Nuclear industry, renewable energy, or construction experience highly desirable.
