Contract - 12 Months

Location : Richland, WA 99354 The Licensing Engineer will provide regulatory and technical support for significant station initiatives and engineering projects within a nuclear-regulated environment. The role will support nuclear safety, licensing, regulatory, and environmental activities while working with Engineering Projects, plant organizations, vendors, industry groups, and regulatory agencies. The position will provide consultation and strategic guidance to management on regulatory and environmental matters, support resolution of licensing issues, participate in industry activities, and ensure applicable licensing, environmental policies, rules, and standards are understood and followed. Candidates may be considered at Level II or Level III based on experience and qualifications.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide regulatory and technical support for significant station initiatives and engineering projects
  • Support objectives related to nuclear safety, licensing, regulatory affairs, and environmental requirements
  • Interface with Engineering Projects team members and other plant organizations
  • Coordinate with supporting vendors and technical resources on regulatory and licensing matters
  • Interface with peers across the nuclear industry and applicable regulatory organizations
  • Provide consultation to management regarding nuclear safety, licensing, regulatory, and environmental issues
  • Identify, evaluate, and support resolution of licensing and regulatory issues
  • Provide strategic guidance and recommendations to management regarding regulatory and environmental project performance
  • Monitor regulatory requirements, policies, rules, standards, and industry developments applicable to assigned projects
  • Keep management informed of current and emerging licensing and environmental requirements
  • Represent the organization with applicable regulators, industry work groups, workshops, conferences, and technical forums
  • Support communications and interactions with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and other applicable regulatory organizations
  • Support Environmental Review activities associated with station and engineering projects
  • Conduct field and onsite visits as required to support environmental and licensing reviews
  • Collaborate with licensing and environmental subject matter experts to evaluate regulatory and environmental process issues
  • Support discussions and resolution of complex licensing and environmental matters
  • Review project activities for compliance with applicable nuclear licensing and regulatory requirements
  • Apply engineering principles, practices, theories, and methods to identify and resolve routine regulatory and technical problems
  • Perform assigned engineering and regulatory tasks in accordance with established station processes
  • Use advanced engineering and regulatory techniques under appropriate guidance
  • Provide guidance to other personnel on matters related to Regulatory Affairs as applicable to experience level
  • Support development and review of regulatory documentation and technical evaluations
  • Assist with evaluation of licensing strategies and regulatory impacts associated with engineering projects
  • Support license renewal activities for commercial nuclear power plants when applicable
  • Review technical and licensing documentation associated with license renewal activities
  • Support aging management program development, implementation, auditing, or inspection activities when applicable
  • Participate in industry committees and working groups related to nuclear licensing and regulatory matters when required
  • Evaluate regulatory and environmental requirements and communicate their potential impact to project teams
  • Communicate technical and regulatory information effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Prepare written documentation, reports, recommendations, and technical communications
  • Use Microsoft Office applications to prepare, review, analyze, and communicate project information
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to support successful project execution
  • Maintain awareness of applicable nuclear regulatory and environmental requirements throughout project activities
  • Perform additional licensing, regulatory, engineering, and project support responsibilities as assigned

Education/Experience:

  • Level II: Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • Level II: PE license obtained by accredited examination may be considered in lieu of the bachelor's degree requirement as specified.
  • Level III: Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • Level III: PE license obtained by accredited examination may be considered in lieu of the bachelor's degree requirement as specified.
  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
