Contract - 12 Months (possible extension)

Location (mandatory): Tucson, AZ (1st or 2nd shift) Supports the functions of RTD histology laboratories in the performance of routine histotechniques. This is an essential position supporting the organizational goals requiring attendance on weekends, holidays and during emergency or exceptional conditions.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates foundational histotechniques of embedding, microtomy, coverslipping, processing and primary staining.
  • Operates laboratory or manufacturing equipment.
  • Receives detailed directions on all work.
  • Follows standard operating procedures. Monitors and prepares bulk reagents.
  • May assist in preparation work for moderately complex techniques under the direction of more senior histology technicians.
  • Maintains Right to Operate and ensure that all processes are performed in a safe and healthy manner; Addresses and escalates any potentially unsafe hazards; Timely reports safety hazards, incidents and near misses using safety reporting tools.
  • Navigates and understands the quality system and escalate issues.
  • Accurately performs tasks in a regulated environment (OSHA, NMPA, FDA, etc.).
  • Performs and documents all transactions and production instructions with accuracy related to the proper receipt, quarantine, storage, and disbursement of materials as it relates to FDA, OSHA, QSR, ISO, Good Manufacturing Practices and other policies and procedures.
  • Recognizes minor issues with raw materials, equipment and lab safety, escalates as needed.
  • Adheres to 95% or above internal training compliance.
  • Conducts 6S activities, maintains daily records, assists in the implementation of process improvements.
  • Participates and contributes in team/tier meetings.
  • Participates in process improvement activities.
  • Proactively collaborates with peers and with other functions to ensure targets are achieved.
  • Provides suggestions to improve work processes and laboratory equipment.

Skills:

  • Ability to read, analyze and follow Operating Procedures.
  • Knowledge of basic manufacturing and laboratory techniques.
  • Skilled use of word processing and email.
  • Demonstrated experience with Lean / Continuous Improvement.
  • Experience with Google products (gMail, gSheets, gDoc, etc), preferred.
  • Experience with SAP required.
  • Ability to read, write and comprehend English.
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to be agile and accurate in a high-volume environment.
  • Strong organizational skills, planning skills and attention to detail.
