Contract - 12 Months Contract + (Highest possibilities of contract extension)

Location (mandatory): Tucson, AZ 85755 (Onsite) This is an onsite position for a Research Associate II in Research & Early Development supporting Ventana projects. The role is responsible for conducting research, development and manufacturing laboratory experimentation and other scientific activities. The primary focus is on slide imaging and image acquisition using systems such as the DP600s, 200s, VS200, and multispectral flash instruments. The individual will perform repetitive, well-defined tasks including virtual staining and assembling slide cohorts to enable the development of AI algorithms while ensuring compliance with GMP, GLP, Design Control, and company procedures.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research, development and manufacturing laboratory experimentation to support Ventana projects.
  • Design experimental protocols with minimal supervision.
  • Execute bench experiments, make detailed and general observations, and analyze experimental data.
  • Prepare technical reports, summaries, protocols, and quantitative analyses.
  • Maintain complete, accurate laboratory documentation and electronic records.
  • Present and discuss experimental results within department and project teams.
  • Perform slide imaging and image acquisition using DP600s, 200s, VS200, and multispectral flash instruments.
  • Perform virtual staining and assemble slide cohorts to support AI algorithm development.
  • Make suggestions to improve laboratory processes and work environment.
  • Assist in identifying and reducing to practice patentable inventions.
  • Analyze problems of diverse scope and apply appropriate methods and techniques to obtain solutions.
  • Participate in cross-functional technical teams, including failure investigation teams.
  • Train others in areas of expertise.
  • Troubleshoot laboratory issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Prepare and present experimental procedures and results to project teams.
  • Monitor work to ensure quality and promote Quality First Time.
  • Follow company policies and procedures related to GMP, GLP, Design Control, and other applicable standards.
  • Maintain familiarity with scientific literature and participate in conferences or professional societies as appropriate.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Skills:

  • 2–4 years of post-college experience in a research, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or medical device environment.
  • Experience with laboratory experimentation and research techniques.
  • Knowledge of slide imaging and image acquisition systems (DP600s, 200s, VS200, multispectral flash instruments).
  • Experience supporting virtual staining and slide cohort preparation.
  • Strong data analysis and technical reporting skills.
  • Ability to maintain accurate laboratory documentation and electronic records.
  • Knowledge of GMP, GLP, and Design Control requirements.
  • Ability to search and interpret scientific literature.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, spreadsheets, graphical, and presentation software.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Collaborative mindset with willingness to seek feedback and coaching.
  • Flexible, agile approach while maintaining operational discipline.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Science, Life Sciences, Engineering, or related discipline.
  • 2–4 years of relevant research or laboratory experience required.
  • Knowledge of basic and specialized laboratory techniques.
  • Comfortable working in a research, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or medical device environment.
