Location : Richland WA, 99354 The Project Manager II leads and oversees complex, large-scale nuclear generation development projects, ensuring execution is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with regulatory and contractual requirements. This role directs multidisciplinary teams, manages project risks, contracts, procurement strategies, and engineering implementation, while providing strategic oversight and executive-level reporting.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead planning, scheduling, execution, and control of nuclear development projects.
  • Direct cross-functional project teams (10+ members), including internal staff, contractors, engineers, and vendors.
  • Develop and manage project budgets, cost tracking, forecasts, and funding plans.
  • Create and maintain detailed project schedules, manage critical path, and resolve schedule conflicts or delays.
  • Oversee engineering activities from conceptual design through implementation.
  • Manage procurement activities, including long-lead materials and equipment strategies.
  • Develop and manage contracts; negotiate terms and conditions in coordination with legal teams.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks, including scope creep and design/equipment obsolescence.
  • Ensure compliance with quality, regulatory, and nuclear industry standards.
  • Prepare and present reports and updates to senior management, Steering Committees, and Board of Directors.
  • Mentor junior project managers and project staff.
  • Interface regularly with clients, stakeholders, and executive leadership to ensure alignment and accountability.
  • Develop and maintain long-range strategic project plans.

Skills:

  • Advanced project management expertise in large, complex, multidisciplinary projects.
  • Strong knowledge of nuclear power generation or power delivery environments (combined cycle, oil & gas, nuclear preferred).
  • Proficiency in cost estimation, budget development, cost control, and financial forecasting.
  • Expertise in project scheduling tools and critical path management methodologies.
  • Experience managing design engineering activities and Architectural Engineering (AE) firms.
  • Contract management and negotiation skills.
  • Knowledge of procurement strategies for long-lead equipment and materials.
  • Familiarity with major power systems such as steam turbines, generators, and transformers.
  • Risk management and mitigation planning experience.
  • Understanding of scope development and scope change control processes.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and project management software (e.g., Passport or equivalent systems).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for executive-level presentations.
  • Project Management certification (PMP or equivalent) required.
